Dawah to non-Muslims is an obligation from Allah in its own right, like other obligations. But it is arguably more neglected than most personal duties performed by Muslims in the west. Many Muslims now live in lands where the majority of people know nothing about the message of Islam. Increasing numbers crave an alternative to the secular way of life, dominated by Capitalism, money and material wealth, with increasing social problems, and a spiritual vacuum.

How did the Prophet Muhammad (sallalahu alayhi wa sallam) interact with them? What rights did he afford them and how did he give them da?wah verbally as well as through his manners and character?
