Ramadan is not just a month to endure hunger and thirst but, the speaker explains in this lecture, the early Muslim generations would aim and hope for the ultimate goal of Taqwa. For this reason they would eagerly anticipate the return of Ramadan. As part of this anticipation they would prepare their souls with increased fasting, worship and repentance so when Ramadan finally arrived they would be able to gain maximum benefit and rewards. Sheikh Assim Al-Hakeem highlights the need to return to this preparation, and details the type of actions, both of the heart and body, that would aid us today in this endeavour.
