Abdullah bin al-Mubarak relates : One day; while I was sitting with Imam Malik; an older man came; who was received with extreme respect by the Imam and made to sit beside him. After he had gone; the Imam said to Abdullah : "Do you know who this man was? He was Abu Hanifa of Iraq; who; if he wanted to could provde this pillar to have been made of gold."
